Splayed fingers, hidden rings.

Boy

there's a boy somewhere.
standing, out of breath
staring at a spiral path
cut into the side of a mountain.

he knows he will run.
around, and upward
getting dizzy, sometimes laughing
sometimes his eyes will bug out.

its just that first step
difficult, to wrench free
he'll reach the top, he knows
its where his feet are planted now.

repeat.
