Splayed fingers, hidden rings.

Poetry 1995–96

Stopping

remembering distracted bliss

flipping to fear as you screamed

'stop!',

drops of your sweat pooling

in omega tatoo.

freeze, shudder, lost breathing.

in brittle silence

i thought i'd hurt you inside.

and you gripped me harder,

wrapping me inside out

to lean-lick smiling relief

at the nape of my neck.

"stop, be still..."

my shoulders unknotted

in your fingers,

fertile musk rising up

between our joined bodies,

as you came.

*

remembering, stopping, to let you pass through.
