Splayed fingers, hidden rings.

Poetry 1995–96

Woodstock

Somewhere i read,

No. Everywhere.

However subtly put,

the idea that one should live

entirely in the present.

peripheral movement

nailshine trail

of open giving

palms

turned and

snatched back

I've tried, and tried,

felt sure that to

really know every second

as it happens, must be the point.

That elusive meaning.

thick smoke rope tight

round blind eye

smoke cry

under eye

under

lying me

But understanding,

realization and discovery

aren't constant states of mind.

Sometimes a rush gives only painful

loss in passing.

follow dotted

wiggle bobbing yellow

tiny frantic wings

beating

beating

crazy bird

makes me want to laugh.
